How Many Sessions of Hypnotherapy Will I Need?

People usually need more than one session of Hypnosis, however there are some exceptions like smoking cessation for example.

As a rule of thumb you could expect between 4 – 6 sessions. Although you may feel improvement straight away, this is because Hypnosis has the powerful effect of relaxation.

Can Anyone Be Hypnotised?

Hypnosis is a natural state, just like day dreaming, or when we are watching a movie, or reading a book, by being engrossed in the story you are using the power of your unconscious mind, helping you to picture, imagine and feel experiences within that story.

We all use our powerful unconscious mind all the time without us being aware of it. Think, tying up your shoelace or picking up your knife and fork, we don't have to consciously think about it, as through repetition we just accept that this is what we do,

moving these behaviours into our unconscious.

But what if we have learned habits that are not so good for us, well we can retrain the brain through hypnosis to stop bad habits, change limiting beliefs  and modify our impulse controls, just like we learned to pick up a knife and fork at dinner. 

So  hypnosis is a natural state that all experience, the 'therapy' of Hypnotherapy is the utilisation of using positive suggestions to help make changes to our behaviours or limiting beliefs that are no longer working for us. 

Is Hypnosis Safe?

YES – you are in an alert state of mind whilst feeling deeply relaxed. You cannot be made todo anything that you do not want to do. You remain fully in control.

How Many Sessions of Talking Therapies Will I Need?

This will be decided between us depending on what your needs are and the type of therapy that we will be working with, the general rule of thumb is anywhere between 6 – 16 sessions, however like Hypnotherapy benefit can be realised very early in the sessions.

How Long is Each Session?

Sessions are 60 mins long divided between reflection, therapy, and goal planning.

Occasionally sessions may be 90 mins long, by mutual arrangement.

Do You Guarantee Improvement?

In my experience people get results if they have a realistic understanding of the work that is required to make the change that is desired.

I put in all of my experience, skills and knowledge to help you make the change, however I can not guarantee the outcomes.

The therapeutic process is to be open and honest with both taking responsibility in reviewing progress.

Do You offer Online Sessions?

Yes, I offer online sessions if this is preferred.

I have received training for both online and telephone sessional work.
